As Launchpad's low-code platform grew, every team had independently built their own version of dynamic value setting. This is considered a table-stakes capability that developers need dozens of times daily. In the absence of a cohesive feature, users were faced with a fragmented experience where the same essential function looked and worked differently across the platform.
**Stakeholder assumption:** Product management viewed this as a feature for "technical users" so therefore it didn't warrant investment in user experience improvements.

Project Overview
Making Rules easier to identify and scan improved usability across the entire Launchpad experience.
Pega's low-code platform contains 52+ different Rule Types that serve as reusable building blocks for applications. As development teams scaled and created more Rules, finding and identifying specific components became a significant productivity bottleneck. Developers were spending excessive time searching through similarly-named Rules and struggled to understand Rule context and relationships.
Through user research and iterative design, I redesigned the Rule navigation system to include visual iconography, improved metadata hierarchy, and contextual information displays. The solution transformed how developers interact with Rules by making Rule Types instantly recognizable and providing critical context at decision points.
